David was born in Wallaceburg but moved with his family to Chatham in his early years. He was an outstanding athlete in several sports but excelled at baseball where he was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays and played in their minor league system for eight years. As a baseball player, David represented Ontario and Canada in many games and tournaments at national and international levels including the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China.

• 1997 to 2000 – while at Chatham-Kent Secondary School, competed in several sports excelled in volleyball – in grade 10 his volleyball team won bronze at OFSAA “AAA” and in grade 12, led his team to fourth place finish at OFSAA “AA”
• after grade 12, received Jack Parry Award as top male student-athlete in Chatham-Kent
• at 1998 Ontario Summer Games, led his Southwestern Ontario volleyball team to a silver medal
• 1999 with his partner, won Ontario Beach Volleyball Midget Championship
• during his youth baseball career, played many games and tournaments at national and international levels
• 1998 – played for North Ba Bantams when they competed in the Major Bantam Canadian Championships – was chosen top catcher of the tournament
• 1998 – played for Team Ontario in a U-16 tournament in Arizona
• 1999 and 2000 – with Team Ontario played several tournaments in Canada and the United States
• 2000 – playing for Team Ontario at U-17 Canadian Baseball Championships in Manitoba, hit .500 and threw out every runner attempting to steal a base – as a result, was chosen to play for Canada’s National Junior Team which competed in a tournament in Orlando, Florida in April of 2001.
• 2001 – 2008 – at age 17 was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 14th round in 2001 and played baseball professionally in their minor league system for 8 years reaching as high as “AAA” with the Syracuse Chiefs in 2007 where he played 12 games and batted .323
• had career totals of 31 homeruns, 155 RBI’s and a .238 batting average in 342 games
• 2007 – received the Toronto Blue Jays Community Service Award for his contribution to his community in Dunedin, Florida which included helping youngsters with their baseball skills, speaking to high school students, and spending time with seniors. 
• 2006 – was starting catcher on Canada’s National Senior Team in an Olympic Qualifier in Cuba – batted .333 and did not allow a single stolen base
• 2008 – at final Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Taiwan, shared catching duties with Chris Robinson and went 5 for 12 in batting
• team won the tournament to qualify for Olympics in Bejing
• team went 2-5 at Olympics and finished in 6th place
• all 5 losses were by 1 run.                                                                                                                                                                        After retiring from baseball, David returned to Florida to get his Masters of Divinity Degree. He is now a pastor at the Church on 99 in Squamish, British Columbia where he lives with his wife Chelsea, whom he met in high school, and their four children.
