Casey, a lifelong resident of Chatham dedicated a great deal of his life to kids in Chatham Minor Baseball and is fondly remembered by those with whom he came in contact. He was never too busy to repair a glove or another piece of equipment for the young players. Casey was born in 1929 and spent over 40 years in baseball.

Career
Was on the Chatham Minor Baseball Association Executive for over 25 years – at various times, held all positions including president, secretary, and treasurer
Coached in the bantam houseleague for 5 years and was league convenor for 20 years
Coached the bantam travel team for 15 years during which time his teams won 12 Western Counties Baseball Association championships and 5 Ontario Baseball Association championships
Served on most CMBA Committees including Rotary Park Lights Committee, Dance Committee, Banquet Chairman, Registration (every year), Fergie Jenkins Committee

1966 ‒ recognized by the Chatham Memorial Community Centre Commission for Outstanding Service in the Field of Recreation
1979 ‒ La Sertoma Youth Service Award for “Dedication to the Youth of Chatham”
1979 ‒ Certificate of Appreciation from the International Plowing Match for his support of that project 1982 ‒ Chatham Minor Baseball Association Award for over 30 years service
1984 ‒ Chatham Goodfellows Certificate of Appreciation for his work with that organization
1984 ‒ Certificate of Merit from the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 628 for “Service to its Baseball Program”
1988 ‒ Canada Celebration “88” Certificate of Merit for “Service to his Community”
1989 ‒ CMBA Fergie Jenkins Community Service Award for “Outstanding Service to Chatham Minor Baseball”
Casey died in Chatham in 2006 at age 77.
