In 1956 Chirp began his involvement with Chatham Minor Baseball as a house league coach at the Pee Wee level. In 1958 he joined with Doug Allin and Bruno Casanova to coach the Pee Wee travel team as well as coach in the house league. 

  • Between 1958 and 1963, the teams won 5 consecutive OBA Championships at the highest level in the province. 
  • From 1965 to 1970, Chirp coached at the Junior level with Ross Day and Cliff MacArthur.
  • In 1979 he returned to coach the Bedell Tires Juniors with Bob Swift winning the OBA Major "A" Championship beating Waterloo in the finals
  • From 1975 to 1979, Chirp coached slo-pitch leading the Prodenchuck's team to a championship in 1979
  • During his time with CMBA, Chirp was on the executive, serving in several different positions including president in 1973 and 1974.
